There is no development work needed for implementing scheduled or triggered transfer scenarios for extremely large files. Cobalt supports archiving and management of file transfer batches and also built-in reports for executed transfer processes.
FRENDS Cobalt is an ideal product for environments with simple file transfer requirements, simultaneously providing a seamless upgrade path to creating a full SOA-based integration architecture with FRENDS Iron and Microsoft BizTalk Server.

FRENDS Cobalt is a subset of FRENDS Iron - it's a solution for file transfer integrations and focus is on efficient implementation and deployment. Cobalt has following capabilities
- SSH File Transfer (Secure FTP, SFTP)
- FTPS (FTP Secure, FTP-SSL)
- FTP (also append)
- Windows Azure Service Bus / Service Bus for Windows Server
- File shares
- Reporting database with built-in SQL Server Reporting Services reports
- Extension API for proving flexibility and scaling up out-of-the-box functionality
Using Cobalt is easy:
- Define source from where to fetch file(s)
- Define destination where to transfer file(s)
- Define action(s) in between the transfer (for each file)
Configuration can be done quickly within minutes and it does not require any coding or custom development. Cobalt contains a bunch of capabilities for parameterizing transfers, here's a list what you can do
- Copying and moving files from a single endpoint to another
- Archive and backup original source files to specified destination
- Renaming patterns for destination files
- Operations on source files after transfer: rename, delete, move - or do nothing
- Options on what to do if the destination files exist: append, overwrite or throw an error
- XSL -transformation for transferred XML files
- Changing the encoding of a transferred file
- Logging features either for SQL Server database or, file based logs
- Logging and storing message payload to Windows Azure Storage
- Sample SQL Reporting Services report for seeing which files have been transferred and if any transfers failed
