New handy features, see below |
FRENDS Iron 3.2 is an incremental update to the FRENDS Iron platform. It brings with it many improvements and useful features. Below are the most important changes:
Built for .NET Framework 4.5
FRENDS Iron 3.2 now uses.NET Framework 4.5, so it works seamlessly with BizTalk 2010. This also means you can now use the latest framework feature and enhancements in your custom workflow code
Note: Because .NET Framework 4.5 is not supported on Windows Server 2003 (R2), you cannot install FRENDS Iron 3.2 on Windows Server 2003 (R2).
FRENDS Iron web user interface is included with installation
FRENDS Iron web user interface provides an easy to access and user-friendly view for FRENDS Iron processes and elements. The web user interface is now included in FRENDS Iron installer. There’s no need to manually edit configuration files or running command line tools. This makes the installation and configuration process easier than ever before.
FRENDS Cobalt data flow visualization
A new system-level transfer view allows you to see all Cobalt transfers grouped by their endpoints. The view gives a simple way of inspecting data flows between systems and may even help to detect whether some systems are under heavier stress than other similar systems. The view also shows the transfer counts and possible errors in a single view.
Exclude days in schedules
Excluded dates in schedules have been difficult to handle. Basically you had to have multiple schedules if you wanted to schedule a routine so it would not execute on a specific day. Now you can do this by defining a list of excluded dates for a schedule. You can also import the list of excluded dates from iCalendar (.ics) files making it easy to exclude e.g. public holidays.
FRENDS Radon 2.0 included
The latest version of Frends’ event log monitor, FRENDS Radon, is also included in FRENDS Iron installation. Radon 2.0 now has much requested support for customizing the templates of emails sent. Radon 2.0 also keeps track of reported events so you won’t get several unwanted reports for same events and thus reduces error report flooding to you system operator’s mailbox.
And much more
There are many more new features included in FRENDS Iron 3.2, such as:
- Support for passing information from a routine task to another, making it possible to e.g. create custom error reporting tasks
- Option to define how many days’ worth of history is kept for an individual routine, allowing you to customize the amount of data stored in the database on a case-by-case basis.
- Separate executable for deploying FRENDS routines and tasks from the command line. This executable can be used to automate the deployment of all FRENDS elements, with no manual steps needed anymore.
